1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use Axle:

  Account information: Your email address and (if applicable) the name associated with your login provider. This is collected when you create an account.

  Vehicle information: Year, make, model, trim level, and mileage for any cars you add to your garage or submit for diagnosis.

  Diagnosis history: The symptoms you describe and the AI-generated diagnosis results. These are saved to your account so you can reference them later.
• ▸
  Usage data: The number of diagnoses run, your subscription status, and general usage patterns used to maintain and improve the service.
• ▸
  Payment information: We do not store your payment card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, which maintains its own privacy and security standards.

2. How Data is Stored

Your account data, vehicle information, and diagnosis history are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon, a managed, serverless database platform. Neon encrypts data at rest and in transit and operates with industry-standard security controls.

Our application is hosted on Vercel, which provides infrastructure-level security, DDoS protection, and encrypted HTTPS for all connections.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our active database within 30 days. Backup data may persist for up to an additional 30 days before being purged.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

• ▸Provide the AI diagnostic service and personalize results based on your vehicle history.
• ▸Manage your account, subscription, and usage limits.
• ▸Send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, password resets).
• ▸Monitor for abuse, errors, and service issues.

4. Data Sharing — We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate Axle:

• ▸Stripe — payment processing.
• ▸Neon — database hosting.
• ▸Vercel — application hosting.
• ▸Anthropic — AI model processing (your symptom description is sent to Claude to generate the diagnosis; Anthropic's data policies apply to this processing).
• ▸Sentry — error tracking (anonymized error data to help us diagnose bugs).

We may also disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

5. Your Rights — Data Deletion

You have the right to:

• ▸Access the personal data we hold about you.
• ▸Correct inaccurate data.
• ▸Delete your account and all associated data. To request deletion, email us at support@axleai.app with the subject "Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.
• ▸Export your data. Contact us to request a copy of your diagnosis history and account information.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Axle uses the following cookies and local storage:

• ▸Authentication session cookie: Set by NextAuth to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential for the service to function and expires when you sign out or after 30 days of inactivity.
• ▸Local storage (email capture): We store a flag in your browser's local storage to avoid showing the same email prompt more than once. No personal data is stored in local storage.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

Axle is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Your continued use of Axle after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
